this is us.

BEHIND THE SCREENS

We are the average, broke married couple with little clones that follow us around. Like the majority of couples, we are middle school sweet hearts who have been inseparable since we were kids. We now bounce from place to place in the beautiful state of North Carolina, spreading good vibes and open minds wherever we land. Luckily, we have two kids who absorb everything in our wake - which is truly rewarding.

Back in the day, we would talk about how it would be fun to have a clothing line. One of us is an artist and one is into fashion - so looking back, this whole thing seems inevitable. One of us earned a degree in Graphic Design and the other earned a degree in Consumer Apparel Merchandising. One of us went off to work at the company that owns Vans, while the other one got a lot of free Vans stuff. One went off to work at an art studio/bar, while the other one got to drink free beer.

At the Art Studio we learned how to screen print. We built a printing press out of 2x4's and springs, an exposure unit out of old shelving scraps and some UV lights, and crafted a handful of silk screens. We came up with a few designs that we would like to wear and we figured others would like to wear as well. As it turns out, people all over the world wanted to wear it. Now we make designs for our kids and ourselves and put what we come up with on this website (when we remember to). We have gone from selling shirts from under a tent on the streets of downtown Raleigh, NC to selling shirts in other people's stores from the west coast to the east coast of the United States.

This is more like a hobby than a business. It is more like creating art prints than printing graphics on a shirt. We do not go to some fancy building with impressive equipment. We set up the press wherever we can, put the baby monitor next to it and have fun.
